Ryan Vogelsong made his 100th start of his career
Wednesday night, and that may have been his last for a few weeks.
The Toronto
Blue Jays took advantage of the struggling Vogelsong, as they hit two home runs
off of him in an 11-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
When Giants
Manager Bruce Bochy was asked about whether or not Vogelsong would miss his
next start, he said, “I’m not going to guarantee anything right now.”
The bats in
the middle of the Blue Jay lineup, Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion combined
for three RBI’s and three hits.
Giants third
baseman Pablo Sandoval, hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning to score Angel
Pagan, and not another man in orange and black would touch home until a Buster
Posey double in the eighth.
The Blue
Jays came out swinging as they scored three runs in the first inning and
followed that performance up with five more runs in the second, ending
Vogelsong’s night.
Reliever Chad
Gaudin came in for some long relief, and he gave up three earned runs in 3 1/3
innings.
Despite
giving up double digit run totals in consecutive games for the first time all
season, the Giants still sit atop the NL West. The Giants and its struggling
pitching staff head to Colorado for four games to face off with Rockies.
After
Sunday’s game in Denver, the Giants have a decision to make regarding Ryan Voegelsong.
Last year he had one of his worst outings against the Washington Nationals, and
the way he is pitching right now, history is doomed to repeat itself.
