Giants and Cain Shutdown the Braves

When Tim Hudson takes the mound, it is usually a tough night for the San Francisco Giants, as they have not beaten him since April of 2006.
After an Atlanta Braves win on Thursday, the Giants won this one 8-2.
Hudson relies heavily on the play of the Braves defense, but the ball could just not find their gloves Friday evening.
In the fourth inning, the Giants took Hudson by storm, scoring six runs, their biggest rally of the season thus far.
The run support given to Giants star Matt Cain, was more than enough as he pitched eight innings, striking out seven.
Cain has been just one of many Giants pitchers who have struggled this season, as this staff has only posted 16 quality starts. This long outing by Cain was just what the doctor ordered for the Giants rotation.
Through the first three innings, it looked as if this game was going to be a battle between two of the leagues best pitchers, but when the fourth inning came around, it was a different story.
Buster Posey came up and drove the ball to left center for an RBI double. Hunter Pence reached on a dribbler, scoring Pablo Sandoval. Brandon Belt doubled to left field, scoring Posey.
After an intentional walk of Brandon Crawford, pitcher Matt Cain came to the plate and singled through the right side to make it 4-0 Giants. Marco Scutaro got his second hit of the inning, when he singled in two more runs.
This was the Giants largest rally of the season, and 3 2/3 innings, was Hudson’s shortest outing this year.
In the fifth, Brian McCann smoked a ball into the water to score Dan Uggla, as the Braves attempted to mount a comeback. As it turned out, that was Matt Cain’s one mistake.
After the win for the Giants, Manager Bruce Bochy said, “We needed a lot of length from our starter tonight and he did more than that.”
The Giants have two more games left in San Francisco against the Braves, before they travel to Toronto to square off with the disappointing Blue Jays.
