San
Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves players wore pink today to honor their
mothers and breast cancer on Mother’s Day.
Tim Lincecum took the
hill for the Giants today and put together a wonderful outing, as the Giants
won 5-1 to end a strong home stand.
In the second inning,
Brandon Belt homered off of Kris Medlen, and Pablo Sandoval and Marco Scutaro
added two more solo-shots. Brandon Crawford singled in Brandon Belt in the
fourth inning. Gregor Blanco stayed hot and doubled in a run in the fifth.
Atlanta was not able
to score off of Lincecum, and mustered their only run on an Evan Gattis double.
Brave’s pitcher Kris
Medlin is now 1-5 on the season, despite having only a 3.44 ERA. Atlanta cannot
seem to score when he is on the bump.
Lincecum put together
his third quality start of the year, and gave up a season-low two hits after
allowing 19 in his last two appearances.
The Giants now travel
to Toronto for a two game tilt with the Blue Jays and former Giants slugger
Melky Cabrera. The “Melk Man” will be receiving his World Series ring, for the
contribution he made before his 50 game suspension in 2012.
San Francisco will
then fly to Denver for a four game series with the struggling Colorado Rockies.
"It's not going to be easy travel for these
guys," manager Bruce Bochy said.
After
today’s performance, I think it is safe to say the Giants looked very pretty in
pink.
