The San Francisco
Giants lead the series 2 – 1 in a four game set with the Atlanta Braves with a
win in today's day game, 10 – 1.
Giants No. 2 starter, Madison Bumgarner was
credited with the win today as he scattered four hits, two walks and struck out
11. Most of his strikeouts came from his
nasty curveball as he got the Atlanta Braves hitters to chase the pitch in the
dirt.
Giants third
baseman, Pablo Sandoval was just the third batter to face Braves' starter Paul Maholm
and he smacked a line drive home run in the home half of the first inning. Sandoval's fifth home run of the year.
Giants pinch
hitter, Gregor Blanco drove in a career high 4 runs. Blanco broke open the game in the 4th inning
when he cleared the bases with a double to deep right center. He added his fourth and final RBI in the 8th when
Braves catcher, Evan Gattis who started in left field today, misplayed a sinking
line drive that bounced and rolled past him to the fence. With Blanco's speed, he ended up at
third.
Today was all
about solid pitching and timely hitting as the San Francisco Giants got a
quality start from Bumgarner and Gregor Blanco came up with two big hits
today. The Giants close the longest home
stand of the season as Tim Lincecum squares off against Kris Medlen. First pitch, 1:05 pm.
